What is a Cycle?

A Cycle is a periodic review of an individual's performance, typically done every 1-6 months. This process includes collecting feedback from managers, peers, and the individual, with specific focus on performance and goals. Cycles can be used to help inform decisions like promotions, compensation, or other strategic planning initiatives.

How long does a Cycle last?

This is configurable, but Cycles usually last between 2-4 weeks.

What are the steps of a Cycle?

Cycles generally have milestones that often include:

  • Peer selections: Select peers who are familiar with your work and can share actionable feedback. Managers review selections and will either approve or update them.

  • Peer feedback: Provide constructive input to peers, leveraging your knowledge of their work.

  • Self review: Consider your work, impact, and anything you may have contributed to. Identify successes and areas for growth in order to gain insights into personal development.

  • Manager review and delivery: Managers will evaluate all self and peer reviews and provide their own input. Often, managers will communicate and review this feedback in a live discussion, establishing alignment on future goals and expectations.

How will I know what step of the Cycle we are in or if a peer has requested my feedback?

You will receive notifications in Slack with instructions and timelines to keep you on track.

Who can see what I write during a Cycle?

When peer feedback is submitted, it will initially go to the recipient’s manager for them to use during their review. Once the manager shares the review with the recipient, they will be able to view all feedback they received. Ultimately, anything written in Cycle feedback will be visible to both the manager and recipient of the review.

When do I have access to my Cycle reviews?

Managers will share feedback directly with the recipient at the end of the Cycle.

Where can I find past Cycles?

All Cycles can be accessed anytime after the Cycle ends, via Cycles in the navigation bar.
